Slow Simmered Zesty Blade Roast

This one is from my mother-in-law!

2-3 pound blade roast
salt and pepper
2-4 tbsp oil
2 diced onions
4 cloves garlic
28 oz. can of diced tomatoes
1/2 cup dry red wine
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp horseradish
  1. Generously sprinkle the roast with salt and pepper
  2. In a large pan, heat the oil and sear the beef on all sides. When it is brown, remove from pan.
  3. If needed, add more oil and cook the onions and garlic for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients including the roast. Simmer for about 3 hrs. turning the roast every half hour.
  5. Serve with mashed potatoes
